Kayla received her diploma in nursing from Newman Hospital School of Nursing at Emporia, Kansas in 1974. She worked in the Emergency Room and the Operating Room in Manhattan, Kansas since 1981. She completed Emergency certification in 1984, Perioperative nurse certification in 1993 and Registered Nurse First Assistance certification in 1999.
A Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Fort Hays State University was completed in 2000 and a Masters of Science in Nursing at Fort Hays State University with a focus on Family Nurse Practitioner. Kayla is also a Certified Orthopaedic Nurse Practioner.
Kayla joined Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine in September, 2004. She is board certified by the America Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Kayla is a member of the Association of Perioperative Nurses, National Association of Orthopedic Nurses, and American Academy of nurse Practitioners, and Kansas Nurse Practitioner Association
